The Flexcharge Real Time Programable Timer is a 12 hr, 8 event, clock based programmable 8A load controller.  Multiple Load ON and OFF times are programmed into this real time clock controller.  Each day can be programmed with its own unique timing pattern.  Eight  ON and eight OFF events can be programmed independently.  Example;  Use one ON event to  have a light come on at 7pm every day then use seven different OFF events to turn the light OFF at a different time each day.  This controller may be used in conjunction with the sSCLC or LVD 12 / 24 to have the load come ON at dusk, then shut OFF at a pre-programmed time.

Night Watchman:



This unique product was started as the pet project of our chief engineer at Flexcharge. As a cruising sailor he found that he was often thinking more about getting underway in the morning than turning the mast head anchor light OFF. This of course used a substantial amount of battery power lighting the lamp all day. The Night Watchman is designed to be mounted outside in a marine salt air environment. It is completely waterproof, and very small (1" x 1" x 1") for mounting in an inconspicuous location. Because power consumption is always a concern on battery powered systems (sail boats, PV systems, etc.) the Night Watchman is designed to use an extremely small amount of power in standby mode (only 0.00015A or 0.15mA), yet it is capable of supplying up to 10A of load current. With boring repetition the Night Watchman will turn 12V incandescent or fluorescent lights ON in the evening within a half hour of sunset, and OFF in the morning within a half hour of sun rise. The Night Watchman's circuitry is designed to prevent flickering therefore it can be used to control 12V fluorescent lamps. Feel free to go ashore during the day and stay all night.  Your mooring light will turn ON and OFF protecting you vessel as required.

PV7 & PV7D:



The PV7 (Single battery banks) and PV7D (Dual battery banks) are cost effective shunting regulators designed for smaller 6V, 12V, or 24V Solar Only applications with a maximum solar charging current of 7A. Special order 6V or 24V units. These controllers are easily expandable to handle charging currents from 30 to 500A.  We have engineered these controllers to be extremely efficient, accurate, salt water spray resistant, and very small (1.5" x 2").  It is Ideal for use in a marine environment. Use with Lead Acid or Gel battery technologies.  Like the NC25A they also uses only 4mA to operate the circuitry.  The PV7 & Pv7D controllers are not for use with outboard motors.

Efficiency: The PV7(D) are an all solid state design using the highest efficiency components. All shunting type regulators must use a blocking diode in the charging path to block the battery voltage when the controller is regulating.  No heat sink is required on the PV7 because small amount of heat that is generated in the high efficiency solid state components. Dependability: We took great care to design the PV7(D) for long term unattended operation; extensive transient voltage protection;  high steady state voltage protection (it is not affected by continuous charging input voltages up to 33V, the point where the transient voltage protection kicks in); fully sealed electronics for 100% humidity operation; etc...  The PV7(D) is designed for Install and Forget operation.


Simple to Use: The PV7(D) includes an easy to read Charge Indicator. PV14:

Efficiency: The PV14 is an all solid state design using the highest efficiency components.   All shunting type regulators must use a blocking diode in the charging path to block the battery voltage when the controller is regulating.  The heat sink on the PV14 is used to dissipate the heat generated by the high efficiency blocking diode in the PV14.

NC12L12:


The NC12L12 (shown here) is the standard controller from this family of Controllers. These controllers are designed for the PV user who require the highest levels of system dependability, lowest battery watering maintenance, Longest life from flooded lead acid and gel battery technologies.  

These controllers are in use everywhere between Florida USA, Saudi Arabian Deserts, to Antarctica. With these controllers performing dependably in those locations, you can be assured it will work for you.  

As with all Flexcharge controllers The NCxxLxx Controllers are designed using the latest proven surface mount technology components.  Low standby power consumption is achieved in these controllers with a 6mA typical parasitic current.  Each controller is tested for proper operation prior to being placed into its shipping container. 

Indicators
The complexity and quantity of status indicators were intentionally kept to a minimum on the NC12L12. The two dual color LEDs smartly show when the batteries are being charged by the green section of the top LED. When the controller is regulating the RED section of the top LED shows RED. When the load is ON the lower LED will glow Green, and when the controller is in Low Voltage Disconnect by the lower LED will glow RED.

Operation
The NCxxLxx use the Flexcharge Charge method described at this link for superior battery operation.

The circuitry is designed to ignore numerous types of false inputs from stray light sources.

Unlike a number of controllers on the market the NCxxLxx controllers switch power to the Positive Side of the Load and the Battery Charging connections.  This allows the user to connect all the system grounds to one location rather than running a separate wire for PV-, Load- and Battery- to the controller, a feature that is required for UL approval.

One small but convenient feature not found on competitors controllers but is included with the NC12L12 is the Manual Low Voltage Disconnect RESET Circuit. This function is also used to test the load circuitry after the installation is completed, and / or when The Low Battery Disconnect circuitry is active. To activate the RESET circuit pass a small magnet over the RED Low Battery Symbol. The load will also illuminate briefly indicating that the Load Circuitry and Low Battery Voltage Disconnect circuit is functioning properly.

NC12L12 Charge Ctl. & Low Bat Disc

NC25A:



The NC25A-(X) is series regulator designed for alternative energy charging systems ranging in size from 0.1A to 25A.  It is the ideal regulator for Solar (PV) and Permanent Magnet Generators (Including outboard motors and smaller wind generators). The NC25A also includes the Charge Divert feature.  Charge Divert allows you to use the excess charging source energy for other tasks, or for placing a load on permanent magnet charging sources such as wind generators to prevent over speed conditions.  The Divert connection is only activated after the charging source is making energy and the batteries are not using the energy (i.e. A wind generator will not be starting into the divert load).  This controller can easily and inexpensively be expanded to handle one or more banks of 100A charging sources.  (1000A max charging current in this configuration).  Multiple battery banks can be charged with the use of a standard battery charging isolators.

Years prior to the sale of the first NC25A, the SES Flexcharge product development team took a hard look at what a new alternative energy charge controller's performance level would need to be to give the user the best possible controller for there needs.  From that effort came the following design criteria;

Highest Possible Charging Efficiency.
The NC25A holds a Patent for its innovative an efficient charging circuitry.
Most alternative energy charge controllers operate at an efficiency of 97%.  Off hand, this sounds pretty good but lets go through the numbers for a typical charge controller.

Power Wasted = (Total Charging Current)  x  (100% - 96%)  x  (Typical Battery Voltage).         P = 25A x 0.04 x 12.6V = 12.6W of wasted energy.

The NC25A operates at 99.5% typical charging efficiency.  (99.9% at its best).
P = 25A x 0.005 x 12.6V = 1.57W

In comparing the numbers we see a 11 watt gain in charging energy that is available for your battery bank with the NC25A over the Typical Charge controller.

With a peak charging efficiency of 99.9% and an operating current of only 4mA, more of the systems charging energy will get through a NC25A into your batteries than with any other regulator on the market.  Models are available for charging 12V, 24V, 36V, and 48V systems.  Use with Lead Acid, Gel, or Flooded Nicad battery technologies.

Dependability
There should never be such thing as a compromise to dependability when it comes to an alternative energy system charge controller as these systems are often located in hard to reach locations (mountain tops, ocean navigation buoys, polar regions, etc...).  We took great care to design the NC25 for long term unattended  operation; extensive transient voltage protection;  high steady-state voltage protection (it is not affected by continuous charging input voltages up to 100V, the point where the transient voltage protection kicks in); reverse polarity protection on battery connections; fully sealed electronics for 100% humidity operation; etc...  The NC25A is designed for Install and Forget operation.
